“A Hublot moment” for Paolo Nutini and Jess Glynne, who were presented with timepieces from the brand’s iconic Classic Fusion collection.
Hublot loves art and the world of music: back in 2010, Hublot teamed up with Depeche Mode for a charity concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Then, in 2014, Hublot and Depeche Mode decided to work together again, to create an exclusive series of 250 watches: the Big Bang Depeche Mode. This year, the watch brand Hublot and Depeche Mode launched a new “watch for water” at Baselworld. Hublot has created the limited edition watch to celebrate the band’s new album Spirit and their upcoming global tour, the Global Spirit Tour. The sales of the watch will raise funds for charity: water, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
With strong existing ties to the Zermatt resort, Hublot is already partner of the Tourism Office, recently opened a Chalet-Boutique at the foot of the Matterhorn, and this year again is proud to be a partner of the Zermatt Unplugged festival held from 4 to 8 April 2017 at the iconic Swiss resort.
Hublot is committed to paying tribute to art in all its forms, including musical art. Zermatt Unplugged provide the Swiss watchmaking brand another opportunity to show this attachment to music. It is the Swiss festival which brings together various spheres of music at the same venue, all in the same uniquely Valais ambiance, in the middle of the Swiss mountains. A Swiss artist internationally renowned such as Stephan Eicher, international artists such as Paolo Nutini, Jess Glynne, Nelly Furtado, Michael Bolton and many others have performed on the festival stage, alongside new talents seeking recognition from the public and their peers. Thus, those artists who have already gained international renown are able to support the rising stars, and advise them on how to introduce their music to the wider public.
Every day new talents have performed on the 14 stages set throughout the village and the skiing area, from midday to midnight. Zermatt Unplugged was clearly the ideal event to warm up after a good day’s skiing in the Swiss Alps!
The Zermatt region is home to many tales and legends, and Hublot wanted to pay tribute to its mountains. The story of the Big Bang Zermatt is not lacking in these details. If there is one object that is inseparable from the mountain, it is rope. The soul of the Matterhorn shines at the heart of these two limited edition Big Bang Zermatt models. Above the HUB4100 movement and between two sapphire panes is a piece of the rope found on the North-East crest of the Matterhorn, enhanced with the inscription “ORIGINAL SEIL VOM MATTERHORN – 4320 HÖHENMETER”. The emblematic silhouette of the “Grand Pic” is engraved on a counter at 9 o’clock. Released in a run of 150 pieces in a tungsten case and 150 pieces in a red gold case, the Big Bang Zermatt has a ceramic bezel and sports a brown calfskin strap stitched in beige.
