1st June 2018 – Yesterday in Glasgow, Hublot and its exclusive retailer in Scotland; ROX, celebrated the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM, uniting under the football values of passion, team spirit and commitment to success.
The atmosphere was one of love for football and the 100 lucky guests including the rugby players Finn Russell and Rory Hughes and the Creative director at Harris Tweed Hebrides, Mark Hogarth, enjoyed a cocktail in Glasgow’s famous Argyll Arcade where a customized Hublot football pitch and goal were installed right in front of the ROX Boutique. A special beer tasting was held before Geoff Shreeves, one of the most famous voices of football in the United Kingdom, invited guests to participate in a babyfoot tournament on the first floor of ROX Boutique. 32 teams were competing, representing the 32 FIFA World CupTM qualified countries. Football remained the focus for dinner with main courses and desserts adorned with flags of the 32 competing countries.
The countdown is on with only 14 days to go before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in RussiaTM. Hublot is the Official Timekeeper for the third time and decided to pay tribute to the football world by launching the Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM. Following a request by FIFA, this smart-watch has been developed by Hublot to accompany the referees on the pitches during matches. It is a unique edition that is limited to 2018 pieces. It has all the attributes of the iconic Big Bang with a light titanium case, the bezel decorated with 6 H-shaped screws, its Kevlar insert. Even the display on its analogue mode dial has a similar aesthetic to the dial of the automatic models. The difference lies in the size, the case if 49 mm and the digital technology that powers the watch. It is certainly a connected watch, but it is first and foremost a Hublot watch!
The Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup RussiaTM has been especially developed to personify the vibrant FIFA World Cup with a series of “fan” dial to allow
personalisation. Featuring several notifications, the timepiece announces matches 15 minutes before kick-off, as well as yellow and red cards, player changes and goals.
Benoit Lecigne, General Manager for Hublot in the United Kingdom, France, Belux, Eastern Europe & Scandinavia said: “Hublot and ROX have a long standing
partnership and ROX were a natural choice to team up with for this event as they embody a truly unique retail experience. Hublot is counting down the days to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia in style here in the home of Scottish football.”
