As always at the same time every year, this weekend saw Ferrari hold the Finali Mondiali, a huge event celebrating the end of the motor racing season with which Hublot is partnered.
4 November in Monza (Italy) – Along with Monaco, Indianapolis and Le Mans, Monza is one of the world’s three oldest racetracks. This pre-eminence has earned it a nickname: “the temple of speed.” In the past, Monza had an oval track with very steep banking that the Italians called the “sopralevata.” Today, these concrete vestiges are still visible. What better place to bring the 2018 season to a close?
So, from 2 to 4 November, road, racing and even top category Formula 1 Ferraris were able to commune with the crowds of tifosi, these die-hard fans of the Prancing Horse. It was also the opportunity to close the Ferrari Challenge championship, with its three European, Asian and American series exceptionally coming together in one place.
Hublot, official partner of the venerable house of Ferrari, participated in these huge celebrations of course, with involvement on several fronts. On the starting line, the famous Safety Car was decorated in Hublot’s colours. In terms of the drivers, we can indicate the presence of the Swiss driver Christophe Hurni, a friend of the brand distinguishing himself in the Ferrari Challenge Europe — Coppa Shell, and that of Peter Mann, an avid Ferrari collector personally driving his historic Formula 1 cars.
This event provided guests with the opportunity to discover or to rediscover one of the brand’s most surprising watchmaking creations close up: the Hublot Techframe Ferrari Tourbillon Chronograph Carbon Yellow.
Like the chassis of a GT Ferrari, its case is forged in carbon. This similarity is no coincidence, since the Techframe was designed by none other than Flavio Manzoni, Head of the Ferrari Design Centre design team. With a case that encloses the HUB6311 calibre manufacture movement, marvellous machinery has been fortified with the showpiece of watchmaking complications, and the tourbillon accompanied by a single-button chronograph.
