Seiko Prospex is expanding its Black Series of night-diving watches with four new limited edition pieces.
The watches fall under Seiko’s favored “modern reimagining” approach to reissues from it back catalogue and take inspiration from Seiko dive watches from 1965, 1968 and 1970.
The first three apply a common black and orange color scheme across the watches, use Seiko’s 6R35 Automatic movement and are limited to 5,500 pieces each. Each watch is secured on a braided fabric strap and supplied with an additional silicone strap.
The fourth piece is again based on the asymmetrical 1970 case shape, but this time features a textured dial (sand on the sea bed), a full orange seconds hand, a matching black coated steel bracelet and is limited to just 1,000 pieces.
The piece also gets a movement upgrade in the form of Seiko’s 8L35 movement, which is essentially an undecorated, unadjusted version of Grand Seiko’s 9S55 which offers improved -10/+15 seconds a day accuracy.
The four watches drop in March via Seiko priced from £1,080 GBP to £2,850 GBP (approximately $1,460 USD to $3,860 USD).
Elsewhere in watches, entry level diver from Spinnaker packs a serious specification.
