Independent watchmakers

The route of an independent watchmaker is often solitary, but distinctive – they forgo the usual trappings of traditional watchmaking routes to strike out on their own and establish their own brands. Not confined to any single aesthetic or style, these independents often push the boundaries of watchmaking, exploring the farthest reaches of their discipline and chasing the highest achievements of their craft.   

Their success is driven by tenacity, the seizure of opportunities and constant refinement. In short, a lot of work with no guarantee of success. However, from the traditionalism of Phillippe Dufour to the futuristic inventiveness of Vianney Halter, independent watchmaking always carries a distinct personality.
