Since 1921, the House of Gucci has broken design barriers and pushed the industry forward as a leading, global luxury brand. And now, it celebrates 50 years of its Swiss timepieces with its second “High Watchmaking” collection.
Celebrating the anniversary at its “Gucci Wonderland” event in Geneva, a magical fairground inspired the house with kaleidoscopic gems, celestial wonders, and an enchanting approach to refined watchmaking complications. Among the new Gucci-designed watch movements are the “GUCCI 25H SKELETON TOURBILLON,” the “G-TIMELESS PLANETARIUM,” and the “G-TIMELESS MOONLIGHT,” the “G-TIMELESS DANCING BEES” and the “GRIP SAPPHIRE.”
And for the first time, the house presented a journey through five unparalleled decades of “Italian-born, Swiss-made design,” utilizing watch diaries of the ‘50s, handbag watches of the ‘60s, and semi-precious stone bangle watches from the ‘70s.
Gucci envisioned a “Planetarium” Ferris wheel with bubbling emeralds, a “Grip-O-Meter,” and a haunted house that showcases a skeleton watch frame dial in a dazzling supporting film visual. Rubber duckies floating in a circular pool and a carousel of the collection timepieces close out the video presentation.
