from local culture and heritage
Vacheron Constantin, the Swiss watchmaker with a legacy dating back to 1755, is delighted to announce this exclusive lounge pioneering spirit of the region, crafted to offer a truly bespoke experience to discerning collectors and passionate watch enthusiasts. The Suite 1755 draws inspiration from the rich diversity of Emirati culture.
Vacheron Constantin Suite 1755 was first launched globally in Dubai in 2022, and subsequently replicated in five countries worldwide.
Welcoming clients beginning October 2023, Suite 1755 at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, merges local heritage, cultural tradition and craftsmanship through curated workshops and experiences.
This destination, situated on the second floor of the hotel, offers an even more expansive space with an awe-inspiring seafront setting that overlooks the crystal- clear waters of the Arabian Gulf.
“We are thrilled to bring Suite 1755 back to Dubai, where we embrace the spirit of the region and the quest for excellence that defines Vacheron Constantin. Our commitment extends beyond crafting exceptional timepieces; it’s about preserving the artistry and savoir-faire that have shaped the Maison since 1755. Within these walls, we build enduring connections, weave stories, and create lasting bonds. Vacheron Constantin takes immense pride in welcoming connoisseurs, watch enthusiasts, and kindred spirits to be a cherished part of a legacy that spans generations,” explains Christophe Ramel, Managing Director of Vacheron Constantin Middle East, India and Africa.
Tribute to local community
Created by renowned Dubai-based Saudi architect and interior designer Danah Almohaisin, Suite 1755 is a testament to the Maison’s unwavering commitment to excellence. The lounge offers an immersive journey through regional art and high
watchmaking heritage. Danah’s typical projects and collaborations are highly private – further exemplifying how Suite 1755 offers an exciting preview of design levels that are most often kept “behind closed doors”.
She has creatively taken inspiration from the Bastakiya, creating an installation of clay brick frames in the Main Majlis that are rivetingly nuanced.
Designing bespoke floor textiles that replicate the unfurling of sand dunes and using the ancient art of ‘Khous’ weaving to handmake wallpaper in Khaleeji traditions – the space is filled with timeless references.
To further strengthen ties with the local community, Suite 1755 includes carefully curated art pieces from Tashkeel, a nonprofit organization fostering the UAE’s creative industries. Artist Wissam Shawkat was introduced to the Maison via Tashkeel, where his conceptual Arabic calligraphy artpiece sits within the Majlis. These artworks complement the exclusive Vacheron Constantin heritage timepieces on display, further enriched by selections from a variety of local artists:
• Khalid Alshafar, designer, has KHALID SHAFAR branded stools on display in the space that reference his upbringing in Dubai
• Abdulrahman Alhammadi, artist, has designed the intricate perlage design along the walls at the entrance to the Suite
• Muneerah Almullah, artist, has created the Talli design on the chairs
• Feryal Albastaki, interior designer, has created the chairs upon which the Talli design is embroidered
• Omar Al Gurg, artist and interior designer, has forged the Suite’s media console
• Amna Alhabtoor, entrepreneur and founder of Arcadia, has curated the space’s fragrance journey
• Sarah Almaddah, designer, has ideated the ceramics displayed in the intimate majlis
